Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City- The Philippine National Police Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP AKG) achieved a significant breakthrough in the fight against organized crime as the Group successfully arrested a former police officer who was leading a notorious Kidnapping for Ransom (KFR) Group and Top 5 Most Wanted Person (National Level) of the PNP AKG.
Acting on intelligence and extensive surveillance, the PNP AKG launched an operation to arrest Magdalino F. Pacia, 44 years old, a former Police officer, and a resident at Purok Rosas, Brgy. Tangob, Padre Garcia, Quezon Province who was evading the authorities since 2017. The operation was conducted strategically in coordination with Tanauan City Police Station, Laguna Highway Patrol Group, and personnel of FSSOL and CIS both of 301 SMG PAF which resulted in the successful arrest of the accused, without any harm to the public or the arresting officers.
Pacia was arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Presiding Judge Gidget Rose V. Duque, Branch 119, Pasay City issued on June 29, 2020, for the crime of Kidnapping and Serious Illegal Detention with Homicide with no bail recommended.
Based on the records, Pacia was the leader of the Pacia Kidnapping for Ransom Group operating in Manila and Region 4A. Their group was involved in a series of kidnappings in 2017 and robberies victimizing Chinese nationals.
The capture of the former police officer and KFR gang leader underscores the PNP AKG’s dedication to eradicating organized crime and ensuring the safety of the public.
Meanwhile, PBGEN RODOLFO D CASTIL, JR commends the dedication and cooperation of the law enforcement agencies involved in the operation. “This arrest sends a clear message that no criminal, no matter how elusive, can evade justice forever. The apprehension of the former police officer and KFR gang leader is a significant step towards dismantling organized crime networks and upholding the rule of law in the Philippines.
The arrested accused was brought to AKG Headquarters for documentation and for his temporary detention pending the return of the Warrant of Arrest to the issuing court.
