Camp BGen Rafael T Crame, Quezon City- In an intensive operation, the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group successfully arrested the entire members of the notorious Kidnap for Ransom Group in a series of operations within a span of just 24 hours on July 12, 2023 in Cainta, Rizal.

Upon receiving intelligence that the Madriaga Kidnap for Ransom Group was planning to regroup, an immediate operation was made by the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group to prevent them from victimizing innocent individuals. The said operation resulted in the successful arrest of a leader Ramil Lagonoy Madriaga, 55 years old, presently residing at San Andres, Cainta, Rizal, and listed as Top 5, Most Wanted Person of Anti Kidnapping Group (National Level); Jaime Marcaida Patano, 53 years old, residing at San Roque, Iriga City; Ervyn Garcia Bernados, 32 years-old, residing at San Andres, Cainta, Rizal; Ronald Romarate Alivio, 44 years-old, residing at Blk. 5 Lot 21 Saint Andrew Street, Villa Stella 2, San Andres, Cainta, Rizal; and Richard Peralta Babagay 38 years-old, residing at Brgy. San Roque, Cainta, Rizal. They were arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest dated June 30, 2023, for Kidnapping for Ransom docketed under Criminal Case Numbers R-MNL- 22-05157-CR and R-MNL-22-05158- CR respectively, issued by Hon. ALMA CRISPINA B COLLADO-LACORTE, Presiding Judge, National Capital Region, Regional Trial Court, Branch 21, Manila with no bail recommended.

The Madriaga Kidnap for Ransom Group is one of the most dangerous criminal syndicates in recent history and had been under intense investigation for several months. They were known for their brazen acts of violence and their involvement in the kidnapping of Two (2) Chinese nationals. The group’s activities had resulted in the loss of innocent lives, including the tragic death of an esteemed officer from the Anti-Kidnapping Group (AKG) during a confrontation with them sometime in June 2022.

The successful culmination of this operation serves as a testament to the unwavering determination and professionalism of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group. It sends a clear message to criminal organizations that their actions will not go unpunished and that justice will always prevail.

The families of the victims, including the bereaved family of the fallen AKG officer, expressed gratitude and relief upon hearing the news of the arrests. The officer remembered for his unwavering commitment to serving and protecting the community, will now be honored posthumously for his sacrifice.

As the arrested individuals face charges related to their involvement in the Kidnap for Ransom activities, PNP AKG is confident that this major blow to the organization will significantly disrupt its operations.

Furthermore, PBGEN CASTIL also extends his commendations to the PNP AKG operatives for their unwavering commitment and efforts that resulted in the successful arrest of the suspects.

The arrested accused were brought to AKG Headquarters for documentation and temporary detention pending the return of the Warrant of Arrest to the issuing court.
